THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN WORKING WITH US! Please read all information below carefully before signing up.

Stewards Of Beer is thrilled to once again be providing Brew Crew services for Barrel & Flow Fest at The Stacks at 3 Crossings (Strip District) on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Unlike many beer fests who rely on the help of volunteers, we are seeking to hire a crew of reliable, motivated, and hard-working people to fill several paid subcontractor positions to help make this a kick-ass event. This allows us to pay people a fair wage for the hard work they do to support Flow Fest. This will be a long day and a lot of work, but it will also be a great time supporting an important mission.

  • Duties (*see below for a more detailed explanation of the duties required) will include set-up, tear-down/cleanup, vendor load-in/load-out assistance, brewer/vendor satisfaction services (deliver ice, empty dump buckets, empty/transport trash, etc.), and more.
  • Because Second shift is later, messier, and doesn’t offer as much opportunity to partake in the fest, we pay Second shift workers a higher rate.
  • All team members will be hired as independent contractors and will be paid via direct deposit approximately two weeks after the event.

We are seeking to fill several positions for each of these two shifts:

First shift
8:00 am – 4:00 pm
$20/hr ($160 total)

Second shift
4:00 pm – 12:00 am
$25/hr ($200 total)

  • If you are interested in applying to join our team for the day, select the shift(s) below that interest you and complete the application. (Must be 21+ years old.)
  • Signing up does not guarantee you a spot, and we have more spots available than we actually intend to fill.
  • We are taking more applications than we need in order to have a waitlist/backups.

We will be in touch shortly to confirm your intent/availability to work this fest.

Thank you for your interest in helping us support a fantastic beer fest!!

DUTIES
*The job you’re applying for is very physically demanding. We do not handle any of the more passive tasks you may be familiar with at fests, such as ticket sales/scanning, checking IDs, merchandise sales, guarding exits, directing traffic, or even pouring beer. Instead, our team is on site to do all the heavy lifting, literally. It’s a full day’s work and there will be a lot of walking and repetitive heavy lifting. We recognize the hard nature of this job, which is why we offer the high pay rate that we do. We expect that you earn it by giving us your best effort.

First shift workers can expect to spend quite a bit of time helping with vendor load-in and setup, including, but not limited to:
  • Distributing and setting up several 10’x10′ canopy tents
  • Moving 8′ wooden folding tables and folding chairs from large stacks to individual vendor spots and setting them up
  • Moving beer by the keg or case
  • Moving jockey boxes into position (and helping to connect them, if you have that knowledge)
  • Pushing hand carts full of various equipment to vendor spots and helping to set it up
  • Unloading 20# bags of ice out of a truck, several at a time, and transporting them to vendors as needed
While the fest is underway, First and Second shift workers can expect to perform tasks including, but not limited to:
  • Emptying five-gallon dump buckets
  • Refilling water bottles/pitchers
  • Unloading 20# bags of ice out of a truck, several at a time, and transporting them to vendors as needed
  • Emptying large trash cans and transporting full trash bags to central dumpster area, replacing trash can liners
  • Sweeping up broken glass and trash
Second shift workers can expect to spend quite a bit of time helping with teardown and vendor load-out, including, but not limited to:
  • Collapsing several 10’x10′ canopy tents, putting them in their protective bags, and moving them to a central location
  • Collapsing 8′ wooden folding tables and folding chairs from individual vendor spots and transporting them to large centrally located stacks
  • Disconnecting jockey boxes if you have that knowledge
  • Helping vendors transport equipment to their vehicles
  • Picking up trash that didn’t find its way to a trash can from the ground
  • Emptying large trash cans and transporting full trash bags to central dumpster area

IMPORTANT Mandatory Walkthrough/Training: Brew Crew team members will be required to attend an in-person walkthrough at the festival location sometime in early August. This is important because the festival is so large and we need to make sure that everyone working is able to hit the ground running and know where they’re going and what they’re doing. Dates/times are TBD, but we will offer at least two opportunities, both in the evening. This training will last one hour and will also include Bystander Intervention training provided by Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR). Attendees will receive an additional $20 in their paycheck after working the fest.
